Better Food, Bristol
Until 2001 Lucy worked at the BBC’s Natural History Unit in Bristol as a Digital Producer. In 2002, she discovered organic food thanks to her daughter Rosie. One half of a premature twin combo, the tiny Rosie was a difficult child to feed. Lucy decided that every miniscule mouthful she ate should be most nutritious possible. This led her to the door of organic retailer Better Food…
From customer to employee, in 2006 she became Better Food’s Marketing Manager, and was central their growth and success. In 2014 she left to join Soil Association Certification’s marketing team, a position which put her at the heart of the organic world. In 2017 she was asked to return to Better Food and happily accepted. Better Food now comprise three shops, each with its own café. It is a pillar of Bristol’s quirky and vibrant environmental community, offering a stable route to market for some 60 local producers, and always true to its mission of offering organic, local and ethically sourced goods to the city’s inhabitants.
